POKOTABI / Sukiyanen
好きやねん
Sukiyanen serves skewers including negima, chicken thigh and pork jowl, alongside yakitori and pork jowl rice bowls, small plates and drinks. Cash only.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Start with the yakitori at Sukiyanen: hasami (negima), a skewer of chicken and spring onion, or mi, made with chicken thigh. Some visitors have singled out the negima, noting its sauce and fragrant char. You can also try other cuts, including skin, gizzard and kokoro, the heart, and work your way through a selection of skewers.
Pork jowl is another option, not just for the grill. One visitor enjoyed the pork jowl skewer and also ordered a pork jowl rice bowl, making it a choice for a night of sharing skewers or a meal with rice. The yakitori rice bowl and pork jowl rice bowl are both 540 yen; the menu also indicates that an egg can be added for an extra 50 yen.
Between skewers, try a small plate such as nasu dengaku (miso-glazed aubergine) or American-style fries. Drinks include beer and chuhai, a shochu-based drink, in flavours such as lemon and yuzu. To finish, there are grilled rice balls and ochazuke, rice served with tea or broth, with ume plum, salmon or mentaiko (spicy cod roe) to choose from. The restaurant is listed as cash-only, so it is best to bring cash for the bill.
